Turned my 9800NP into a XT...

Recently I bought a Radeon 9800 Non-Pro from Ebay with Samsung ram. I got the card today and I looked at the ram chips and it's rated at 3.3ns. I flashed the BIOS from a 9800 into a 9800 pro and it ran perfectly. So, I decided to overclock even farther. Now it's running at 412MHz core speed and 729MHz ram. That makes it an XT! Runs great and I haven't had any artifacting/crashing. I just thought I should post this since this is a better way to get a top of the line card without spending top of the line money. I bought the card for $167. Has anyone else done this with different or similar results?

He did say it makes it an XT... but I think Shady was just making a joke there... about the RAM He wasn't being serious

hi, this is rather old news that the BBA/Sapphire NPs with Samsung 3,3ns are god overclockers when they're flashed to PRO (at least the ram)...i got mine 6 months ago but the core hits only 400 (i have very strong testing requirements, 3dmark03 hotspot, rthdribl etc...) the mem goes maybe 800 or so...

Anyway your OC of 412 is nice but nothing out of the ordinary.

Btw. your title 'flashed to XT' is misleading - the big diff of the XT ts the 256MB ram and the temp sensor....and depending on luck the core can always go higher...some hit 450 and higher

Anyway agree for the $200 i bought it 6 months ago - great deal 🙂
