Turndown service is when the maid comes in and folds back your sheets so you can get into bed.

WTF, who the hell in the world needs a turn down service? If you cant get into your bed because there was no turndown service that evening, then you shouldn?t be in the hotel by yourself because you are obviously retarded.

That is all.

i emjoy turn down service.
I can still go to bed without it, but it is nice to walk into our room and find an orchid on each pillow with the room cleaned up a bit. :)

Oh you don't enjoy chocolates on the pillows? :p

We don't have that luxury but our customers do. They also get animals made out of towels. :D

Maids in my hotel room really bother me. They move my stuff that was carefully laid out. They throw away any paper in the room (even if it had important business notes). They tuck the bed so tight that I have to spend 5 minutes just to get it back to the cozy nest that I left. They ignore the do not disturb sign to do all of this. They take my toothbrush from its clean sanitary place and set it in a wet nasty puddle on the counter. They rifle through my luggage, probably looking for things to steal. They enter (or attempt to enter) while I'm sleeping, showering, etc.

I always request that maids don't clean my room. But that request is often ignored. Thus, if I can, I'll stay in my room until the maid comes and demand that she not clean it. Even still, she'll often come back and clean it once I'm gone. Hotels should be forced to NOT send in a maid unless you specifically request one.

If I wanted chocolates each morning, just hand them out at the front counter or give me a pile of chocolates at the beginning of my stay.

I agree. Its stupid. They might as well have a toilet lid lifting service while they're at it. I've got fvcking arms and occasionally I don't mind using them.

We put all of our valuables in the safe and have never ever had a problem EVER with the maids, etc touching or taking our stuff.
We stay away from home a lot and have never had a problem.

As a matter of fact, i have been very lucky with maid service... we were at a Sheraton a few years ago before a cruise and when we checked out, i left our ipod in the room.

I did not realize that until we were flying home a week and a few days later.

I was so distraught but i called the hotel to just ask if it was found, assuming that we never would see it again... the maid service manager called me back within one day saying the cleaning lady found it in our room and brought it to him. THey fed ex'ed the next day to me.
Talk about honesty.

Not RCI but it's "tradition" that cabin stewards make towel animals for guests during turndown service.

If you're that paranoid about your stewards, maids, butler, etc. get a cheap clock radio with a CCD camera and connect it to a lappy with a few gigs and set up a DVR. You may be amazed at what you see. (in a funny way as people may forget to hit the stop button - and after all there's a bed in there hehe)

Ever think of leaving the DND sign on your door when you leave?

I always hang the DND sign on the door as soon as I walk into the room. I think about 33% of the time the maids don't ignore it and bang on the door and start letting themselves in.

Amused, have you ever thought of reading a post before commenting on it? I refer you to the bolded section.

It is true that I've never stayed at a very expensive luxury hotel. But I refuse to stay at a dirty disgusting motel too. Typically I stay at something equivalent to Embassy Suites. Pretty middle-of-the-line I guess.

I always put the do not disturb sign on my door for the entire time I'm staying in a hotel. One time in Las Vegas someone stole my sign though. :| That was the only time a maid has ever cleaned my hotel room before I checked out.
