Turn PC off every night or leave it on 24/7? (Discussion)

Yep I've disabled tons of services and such. It's very streamlined. I don't know what it is, but whatever process that happens during the welcome screen takes ages. I've been debating on switching to Linux for this reason, Linux boots up super fast, can only imagine how fast it would be on this machine. And if something does get held up at least I would be able to easily troubleshoot it as I'd have some screen output to go by.

For now it's 24/7. Once I move to Windows 8, it'll get turned off.

I turn it off. Given that I'm rarely home no point in keeping it on.

Also the resetting does far less damage than constant heat degredation.

I recently switched to Linux. Takes about 30 seconds from the time I press the power button to the time I have my email, browser and other apps open and ready to rock and roll. That said, I've been turning it off more often now. I also have a SSD so I don't have to worry as much about wear and tear from spinning a HDD up all the time.

Though once I put F@H back on this machine I may leave it on overnight when it's not too hot so I can fold.
