When the updates are ready, Microsoft asks you when you want to apply them (reboot). Just select a date and time. So it sounds like it does exactly what you want.

The only thing I don't like about the new Windows Update process is that it should have been done years ago. I have repaired far to may computers running Windows 7 and older (not so much repairing the past few years) that are way behind on updates. Considering that the vast majority of Windows Updates are security updates, it makes sense that MS should be taking extra steps to ensure that these do get applied.

True, security updates are best applied, however, thanks to the WinX ad-ware campaign in Win 7 and 8, I am much less than inclined to give control over what updates are installed (not like I install updates often anyway, but...).

There's a thread in the HTPC area about installing WMC on Win 10 and that MS will not update Win 10 systems with WMC installed.

Install WMC = Block Updates
Remove WMC = Updates Install

If this is true then Microsoft may have inadvertently provided a way for users to control updates...lol!

To add to this. There is a HUGE thread over on MDL about WMC and Win10. It goes into how to get it to work and maybe it won't. It goes back and forth...anyway.
