Hi,
Which is better for long life?
ADSL Wifi modem always turn on? or turn off if i don't use it.
I think if modem always turn on causes high temperature component and aging occurs.
But If turn on and turn off three and four times a day , The shock device is inserted... .

I've left my cable modems powered on 24/7 for over 15 years and never had one die. I believe powering a device on/off is actually the most stressful time for a device, as that's when expansion/contraction occurs as the components heat up or cool down. At any rate, I'd just leave it on for many reasons besides how I think it might affect the device's longevity.

I believe that power and heat cycling are what kills devices. Leave it on, but make sure it is well vented. You can easily kill it by stuffing it in a cramped space, or by stacking things on top of it.

Wow...this is a first.

Don't think I have ever seen anybody seriously ask whether they should leave their modem on or not out of fear of it dying prematurely.

I've never even considered turning my modem off.

I did some computer work for someone a few years ago, and I sat down to their computer, and the internet wasn't working. I started doing some diagnosis, and they came over and hit a button on their cablemodem, and told me "you forgot to turn it on".

Sheesh. Who turns off their broadband internet modem???
