Turn off Computer from MS-DOS?

Press the power button on the case, or pull the plug at the mains :)


DOS doesn't need anything special done to shut it down, unlike Windows :)

MS-DOS is not really hardware aware.

There is no software power control in MS-DOS.

If Windows 9x is installed I belive you can do 'win /z' to power down (assuming the system has an ATX power supply).

(just make sure that there are no files being copied or moved or anything...) if ya got a plain command prompt just I just kick the power strip on/off switch with my foot cus I am to lazy to bend over for the power button

I remember back in the day I used to have to type "park" in DOS to move the HD's read/write head off of the platter before turning the system off. At least, i think thats what it did...
