Ok, this is my first Thanksgiving as a married man, and I have been put in charge of the turkey. Its going to be a small group, just 3 of us, but I love turkey so I bought a small 13 lb. turkey which should give us plenty of leftovers
Now I have no idea how to cook a turkey, do I really need one of those roasting pans with the triangular rack? I went out and bought one of those big foil pans and one of those plastic poultry bags. Here's what I was planning on doing, rubbing down the turkey with butter in between the skin and the meat, season with some salt and pepper, and a liitle bit of butter on the outside so it browns nicely. I dont think I'm gonna go for the brine technique that some people recommend, its a bit too time consuming for me. I'll just do a slow roast at about 350 or so and baste the turkey occasionally, tenting it with foil if it is browning too fast.
