I have a S754 board with a Newcastle/Paris and I'm thinking, what if i stuck the AMD64 Venice(Turion) low power chip in? I'd get better ocs, much better temps and better performance(once oced). Anbyone know if this will owrk? It's sorta like the Celly M upgrade for 478s a while back.

I have a asus MB with a Sis760 NB.

It will work, but be sure to severly undervolt once installed. Otherwise the chip'll be blewn within minutes.

Actually you can find the Turion's vcore, severely underclock your Paris/Newcastle till it can run at that vcore, and then you will have no problems slipping in the Turion.

I've heard that Turions (Lancaster core) overclock very badly. Mobile A64s (Newark core) are supposed to be very good overclockers. Remember that neither of these motherboards has an integrated heatspreader, so make sure your heatsink actually makes good contact with the core (since the CPU's height is about 1/16th of an inch less) without applying too much pressure on it.

will i need a bios update or anything for these chips?
af for vcore, im fine with that. my board automatically defaults to 1.2vcore for soeme power saving reason.
