Agreed.

Link to Turion64 vs PM battery test supporting that?

Here's some real info.

Check it out ;). 13 pages packed with info.
They don't test any Turion laptop, only try the chip in a dektop computer.

Considering that Bapco shares the same address as Intel and is pretty much a subsidiary, I'd say the Turion compares favorably.

PM battery life ownage. No really, it is so much better I think Pwnage might be more appropriate!!!1111!!!! ;) :D

I'm actually surprised the Turion comes that close. Good work AMD.

he wants it just because its an amd. i worship amd because of their ability to produce better technology than intel, it used to be the otherway around. if intel was to overcome amd, i wouldn't be here.

but in this case, its not better technology per se

Unfortunately, quite a lot of Intel?s success has been in their bundling of the Pentium-M processor with their mobile 855/915-M low power chipsets and wireless LAN controllers in their Centrino bundles. AMD has no similar bundling scheme at this time, and does not appear to have one on the horizon, which will likely make the Turion64?s move into the mainstream a bit more difficult. Perhaps AMD can team up with nVidia for a mobile nForce4 with integrated wireless Ethernet for a Turion64 bundle ? I know this would certainly interest me. At the time, AMD?s mobile chipsets are fairly lacking, as the most ?modern? Athlon64 chipset out there is the VIA K8T800 Pro

pentium-m seems to be the better processor, but it also seems that the turion is usually cheaper.

umm, why?

i would rather support amd than intel as consumers we usually get a better bang for the buck with amd (except with the current x2 situation). if there was a decent mobile chipset that would be excellent, maybe nvidia, sis, ati or uli will make a decent chipset with integrated wifi-g to beat the p-m setups.

i know my current rig is a intel machine but it was bought when the a64s were very new and still untested and i was doing a lot of video encoding where the p4 shined. by the time i replace this machine i will likely go x2 or whatever amd will be using as a dc on the m2 skt. by then the prices should be decent too.

hopefully i will be able to hold out on a laptop purchase until this happens, be even if i had to buy today, i would probably still go the turion, you can get a hell of a machine for $1000.

No it's not, the most modern is the Radeon Xpress 200M.

And anyhow, not like AMD's cpu performance is largely tied to the chipset, just the rest of the system is.
