What's the difference with this TurboTax for the Web and regular TurboTax? My Dad has been using the regular TurboTax for the past three years. TIA! :)

Regular versions of TurboTax 2002 are infested with the SAFECAST/C-Dilla malware that runs all the time and disables your computer if you try to remove it. (Lots of articles about this all over the web.) TurboTax for the web is presumably free from such obnoxious booby traps.

Of course given that Intuit is willing to treat customers this way and that they refuse to address the problem, you might want to think twice about using any form of TurboTax. There are competitive products like TaxCut that don't come with a secret payload.

Regretfully TT for Web will not allow you to import files done off Web or by their competition.

It is said TurboTax has implemented a new uninstaller that removes SafeCast during uninstall.

One can get the updated uninstaller via when one web-updates TurboTax.

Obviously, this is for Turbotax WEB version...you don't have to install any software. No need to worry about cdilla.

Well, that's just not true at all. I use the web version every year, and I itemize every year. I think perhaps you're talking about the WebEZ version, which is the "free" filing of the 1040EZ form. That, of course, allows for no itemization.

Just read an article this morning in the paper....
In an effort to boost e-filing, IRS is providing free software to do your taxes online....
Why buy anything??

(I don't have the links, but my wife did ours online 3 out of the last 5 years... 2 of the years were TT)

i believe it's only free to people who made $27000 or less last year.
