PC-

Motherbard: Asus P4C800 deluxe

CPU: Intel P4 3.0 ghz HT

RAM: Corsair XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series, Low Latency (Twin Pack) 184 Pin 1GB(512MBx2) DDR PC-3200 - Retail (Cas Latency: 2-3-2-6 T1)

Video card: Geforce FX5900 ultra

Power Supply: CoolMax 550 watt

----------------------------------------------------
I built this pc about a year ago I'm thinking. Everything works fine on it, I'm just annoyed by not being able to turn on the 'turbo mode' in the bios. The system wont post if I do.

Also, if I set the ram timing to 2,3,2,6 the system wont post either.
I'm a bit confused about that actually, there are actually 5 different settings it seems, not 4.. (im not sure what the T1 is all about)

So I just set it to auto and it works fine.

Yeah, I never knew what I was doing in the first place.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Don't concern yourself with all the "Turbo" mode. I don't know what RAM works with that enabled, but I guess some do. As for the timings, you might need to up the ddr voltage by .1 for it to boot. Check out the max. spec voltage, and slowly increase to see if you can get it to POST @ 2-3-2-6. The last setting is kinda outdated, most RAM nowadays are 1T (clock cycles), old cheap RAM used to be 2T.

Thanks for your reply. Still confused about one thing before I check voltage though..

This is what I see on the ram settings in the bios

DRAM cas latency
DRAM ras precharge
DRAM ras to cas delay
DRAM precharge delay
DRAM Burst length

The last setting doesn't have an option for "1T" or "2T".. just 2 and 4 if I remember right. Not quite sure what it is that I don't understand.

I appreciate it.

It seems that the list of latency settings in the bios aren't in the same order as what are listed in the ram specs. I got that all figured out. Sisoftware sandra reported that my ram was at 2.5-3-2-6. I got it set to 2-3-2-6 and it allowed me to turn on turbo mode. I got almost 100 more points in 3dmark03. The system seems to be running smoother too.

I can't seem to overclock with the ram cas latency any lower than 2.5 though. (using the AI overclock feature.) The system wont post.
