Tunnel Vision when you are tired

Ever since I was a kid, I have been getting these spells where everything seems really small and I seem to focus in only on what I'm looking at right then. My hands seem like they are really far away from my body and my peripheral vision seems slighted. It happens usually when I'm tired. Sometimes I can "snap out of it" by closing my eyes for a while and then looking around very fast, but usually this does not work. Does this happen to anyone else? It's really weird and actually kind of neat, but only for a while.
 
Once, I got into my car to go home, and ended up in another state with no fricking clue how I got there. Now that was f'ed up.
 
It will happen to me, on a lesser degree. Only when I'm very tired. I'll zoom out for a few seconds then catch myself.
