that and there is no longer an INS. they are now a part of the dept of homeland security.

Ok then 🙂 If they pay taxes and what not, why don't they reapply and keep it all legit? This is why the government lumps them all into one category because it's illegal.

because it isnt always that easy. we have some pretty crazy standards for visas and they vary depending on the country of origin. some problems that i have seen are being out of school for a short period of time, unable to get a corp sponser, problems with immigration lawyers, etc.

my GF is currently going through the citizen process. Her residence card expires in May or something, however she started the Citizenship process a while ago.

the process is by no means cheap. I'm talking $500+. I think that price is one of the huge factors that stops these people from becoming legal. They typically don't make that much $$ in general and sometimes make $500 in 2 weeks.

i dunno for sure, but I think that is a factor in why people don't become citizens when their residence expires.

There is a Mexican gardener who does at least 5 houses on our street once a week. I couldn't care less. He's a nice enough guy, hard working and very polite.

Illegals are lame and we need to ship them out and build a big wall guarded by our military. If you live in the border states and are not illegal, you have to agree. I'm so sick of this topic it makes me sick. In Houston, you can get a nice house in the suburbs and next thing you know an illegal is your neighbor. You can't communitcate with them because they don't speak English. You can't deal with their kids playing with yours because if there's a problem with their kids behavior, their kids have to translate. Ads, radio, tv....everwhere you go, crap is in Spanish. It's sickening! All because our govt. lets ppl break their laws.

i would not say that illegals typically dont make much money. every single one i know is middle class. it all depends on the situation.

i would not say that illegals typically dont make much money. every single one i know is middle class. it all depends on the situation.

yea I guess it all depends. I live in MD and my GF's mom lives in VA right where a bunch of illegals are. I'm talkin about where you can go to 7-11 in the morning and see 30 guys waiting around for someone in a van to pick these guys up to pay them $20 a piece for them working all day on some type of manual labor job.

A job I once had required me to pull credit scores/reports. I had a mexican come in and fill out all the paperwork. He was born in Mexico and was here in AZ for like 2 years. I ran the check and what do you know, ERROR! I called the cops and they came and arrested his sorry butt. He obviously didn't realize how the SS numbers work. 🙂

My parents went through alot to get us into this country LEGALLY. They worked hard and assimilated into this society. We are now all US Citizens. Condoning the illegal entry into this country is an affront to me and all the immigrants who came here legally.

One last thing, Mexico is criticizing the US for it's proposed fence, yet Mexico has been investigated by the UN for the way it treats other Central Americans who are caught in Mexco illegaly.

Sorry for the rant, but this is a very touchy subject for me.
