Is the 120 too heavy to be safe on some motherboards? Thanks, I just want to be sure. If there is a smaller but still equally effective HSF I would like to know about it.
 
If you're considering a heatpipe tower cooler, consider how it will be mounted. I think they work best when the cpu plate is down - might be some (significant) difference in performance in a tower case vs. a desktop case.
 
To answer your question, no, there is nothing smaller that comapres to the top 3 coolers, and all 3 are large. And yes, they are safe to use despite their size.
