Tuniq 120, Asus Striker and Antec 900

Hi, I already got the Asus Striker Extreme and the Antec 900, and im looking at buying a cooler to go with my E6600. The Tuniq Tower get a lot of great reviews, so im considering it instead of the Zalman 9700.

Just curious if some people have the Tuniq, Striker Extreme and the Antec 900, and how the installation was, pictures, feedback and if the cooling pipes were a problem.

I'm also curious if with that cooler and the striker, you will be able to have it push the air out of the case (the back fan) or you dont have choice and need a different orientation.

The Tuniq might not fit in the 900 too well. I don't know the exact layout of the striker but on my a8n32-sli (in a 900) the tuniq wouldn't fit because it butted up against the clips for the side fan. No problems with the 9700 though.

I just installed the Tuniq Tower in a new install this weekend. My case is a Lian-Li PC60PlusII. The thing comes within of about an inch of my sidewall of the case.

My case 5 fans (including PSU). I have a 120mm in the lower front, a 120mm in the lower side opposite the PCI slots. But of those are pushing air into the case. I have an 80mm in the rear and top that suck air out, and the PSU has 120mm directly above the Tuniq. I chose to have the airflow from my Tuniq fan go upward so as to be sucked out by PSU, and top case fan. Rear fan pulls air across fins perpendicular to Tuniq fan.

My e6400, non overclocked, runs 32 to 35C at idle. Haven't found a good program to stress test the CPU yet.

Hope this helps.

ROFLROFL actually im curious to see if it will install. I had the stacker and believe me, even waterblocks that are 1/4th the tower's size were a PITA to install. You can thank ASUS to wraping those enormous heat pipes around the firggin CPU block. :\

It'd barely fit but honestly I'd go with a bit less of a size unless you're being greedy on overclocking. 😀 You can either fit these L-shaped HSF towards the back or top of the case without problems. The case moves a lot of air. A LOT. (at the cost of noise, of course) Make sure you have some kind of air-flow around north bridge. 680i SPP temps, in my guess-timate, can rise above 100C without active cooling (when overclocked).

I don't know about the Striker, but the Tuniq fits in the Antec 900 BARELY on a 680i.
Good choice over the 9700 because I just replaced my 9700. The Zalman is really mediocre on performance cooling for the huge price you pay for it.

It's gonna fit. Lotta pics with the tuniq and 900 together in this thread http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=126395&page=1 Scroll down to GAR's post, and some more on page 2.
I own a 900 and have a Tuniq on its way.

no i was meaning to address, will the tuniq FIT on his striker.

If any of you guys HAD this mobo, like i did, its EXTREMELY tight as hell near the CPU socket due to 3 massive heat pipes. This is why i found out not many people use this board over the EVGA 680i.

He should find out if his HSF will even FIT his board.

BTW that board is a P5N32-E and not a striker. I dont think you guys are understanding what board he wants to get.

HERE LOOK AT THE PIPES!!

You guys now see what i mean about if the tuniq tower will even fit on the board?!!?!?!

EDIT: after looking at GAR's picture, that definitely looks like the striker and not P5N32-E. But it would be wierd for the guy to have made his sig differently :\

I ordered the Tuniq and I will build the computer in a week when I have more time.
I will let you know how the install was with the Tuniq and the Striker.

Thanks for the replies.
