Does anybody know of any software you can get for your pc that functions the same as an electric guitar tuner?

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to plug a guitar into the line-in on the soundcard and have software than functions the same as the hardware on an electric guitar tuner.

The reason I ask is that, I need to tune my guitar!!! I can do it by ear, but it's never quite as good as the tune I get using an electric tuner. Additionaly, it's so far out of tune, and I don't have a piano or tuning fork handy to get the first string.

-Thanx.

I normally use my ear, but there is a peice of software called "G-Vox" system that teaches you.
I would assume you can tune a gutair with it too.

I know there is a such software. I've seen it on TV, as part of a cheesy learn-to-play-guitar package. Look at download.com

Bass guitar actually. I have a nice yamaha which is at my friends house; and this crappy brown one that I havn't picked up in a few years. Hence it being incredibly out of tune. It's called a... "Biscane four". Got it for $50 at a garage sale like 8 or so years ago.

Thanx for the replies.

Apparantly digital guitar tuner is apparantly only for 6 strings.

I'll just do what I should have done in the first place... look around myself.

Just remember... you can tune a guitar...

but you can't tune a fish.
(I can't believe nobody else has said this yet.)
