Tuna sandwich gurus - techniques & recipes

How do you make your winning tuna sandwiches.

I like light tuna, a bit of relish, mayo, white toast and cheese - melt cheese in microwave or toaster oven - or on the car dashboard on a hot day. I will also sometimes put the tuna, relish, & mayo in the blender to mix- if I feel like cleaning out the blender.

What's your preferred method?

Lots of bell pepper or a big huge slice of bell pepper. All the difference in the world. Also a good dose a fresh cracked pepper.

Or grill it with cheese like a grilled cheese. And bell pepper.

albacore tuna (packed in water, oil is meh), a little mayo, dill relish, some deli mustard, a few capers, and maybe a little chopped egg, on wheat toast with lettuce, tomato, and red onion

albacore tuna (in water) a little mayo and pepper. on white bread either toasted or not.

or a cheap can with mayo and crackers.

1 can solid tuna in water
mayo
cummin
juice from 1/2 fresh lime

lettuce & tomato and/or cheese depending on mood.

tuna, mayo, and salt/pepper.

throw it on buttered bread with some cheddar cheese and grill it.

last week, I spread tuna on a tortilla shell with some shredded jack/cheddar and cooked it like a quesadilla... that was pretty tasty as well. dipped it in salsa.

Tuna, anchovies, capers, finely diced onions, smoked paprika, lemon juice, mayo and black pepper. Lettuce in the sandwich with whatever decent bread you like.

Anyone that pairs cheese and tuna needs shooting.

Tuna
Mayo
Bread

Done. Yes I like my tuna plain and simple.

Sometimes I get adventurous and toast my bread. Or I might toast it and make some tomato soup to dip it in if I'm really hungry.

I don't. Tuna on crackers, nothing else. If you must use mayo, just a tiny bit is acceptable, and a bit of relish is fine. Celery seed makes it fancy.

Tuna, mayo, a dash of mustard, spices (including lemon-garlic and black pepper), cut up dill pickle (or celery).

hating on a classic tuna melt? really? :colbert:

maybe I can't judge... I hate anything in my tuna except seasonings. I will all-but-refuse to eat tuna with celery, onions, or anything crunch like that.

mix together:
tuna in olive oil
red onion, finely chopped, about 4-6T
black olives, finely chopped, about 6-8 medium
celery, finely chopped, about 4"
dab of mayo, add a bit more if tuna was water packed

put between 2 slices of decent bread or in a good roll
top with thin slice of cheddar

toast or grill under weight until cheese starts to melt

Second choice:

tuna & mayo
in an onion roll
cover with bread & butter pickles
mound on a pile of alfalfa sprouts
fold roll closed, if you can

I go to subway and load it up to the max
