Tuesday Night Football (Buf vs Ten)

How about hating on the Titans for not running a tight ship....and then benefitting from it with all that rest for two freaking weeks.

Jeez, the Belichick tree is a hazmat spill....

They spoke about that on the air. Since they're not in a bubble, they don't know where the transmission occurred. Some think college-aged kids of some of the staff introduced it and then it was spread in the locker room. Additionally, this all came up after they travelled together to Minnesota. Apparently, Roger Goodell met with the team and much of the hating in the press was just clickbait. They said that the Titans organization lost out 2 weeks of practice and didn't break any rules when some players chose to workout independently (as they were distancing).

I'm really interested to see Titans and Pittsburgh play later this month.

Yep ... Not saying the Titans couldn't have won this game anyway but it was really obvious who had the fresh legs.

Bills looked really bad for a 4-0 team.

I'm not a big titans fan but they looked pretty good. Can't believe they were 9-7 last year.

9-7 was good last year, depending on conference/division. I think the Texans had basically the same record to win the AFC South last year and both the TItans and Texans made the playoffs.

That says something about the quality of talent.

Of course, you can have teams with near spotless records going into the playoffs that faced top opponents with injuries and had an easier schedule. (This is the point where I want to pick on someone and say, "This team gets to play that team twice! That's like 2 free wins every year!" I can't pick on the Browns anymore.....maybe I should be attacking the NFC East for a change?

As for the Bills. Josh Allen is a really good quarterback and tipped balls to INTs are unfortunate and not easy for the QB to adjust for. The Bills will still be playoffs contenders and this loss likely won't hurt them much based on the weakness of the AFC East this year. New England is their only real threat.

Sounds about right ... my assessment of the Bills/Allen's winning potential hasn't changed a bit after last nights game. The Titans are Super bowl contenders and the Bills likely will be but still need to do a little maturing.

The only thing I found surprising last night was just how much talent Tannehill has ... hard to believe this is the same guy we saw in Miami.

Quick release time is everything in the NFL.... If you don't have that, you at least need to be able to extend the play with your legs while looking downfield. He has both of those traits. Marcus Mariota was lacking talent at the line for most of his career and he was struggling with his ability to throw the ball quick enough. When Tannehill took over, it was a rough game for him because the pass rush that had been on Mariota all day didn't let up for him. The dual threat of Tannehill's quick deadly accuracy over the middle and Henry's cut back are what's keeping middle linebackers from joining the pass rush every play. Part of the reason that was an issue for Mariota was because he was always a run threat, so they spied him and rushed him more openly.

Absolutely ... nothing does a better job keeping the pass-rush honest then a strong ground-game. Between Henry running like a pile-driver and the Titans better then expected O-line play so far, if Tannehill keeps up his end they could win it all if no more major injuries.

Not picking them to beat out KC just yet but it wouldn't shock me.

I think it's bullshit that their fuck up messed up the bye weeks of other teams and are having to make them reschedule.

What should have happened is they either have a buffer between week 17 and playoffs for makeup weeks. Like one or two weeks maybe. And hell some of those games may not even have had to be played if there was no playoff implications.

Either that, or the Titans should have just fucking forfeited and Steelers get a W instead of fucking up everyone's bye week when the Steelers had nothing to do with it. Instead of a perfect week 8 bye week they had to take a week 4 bye week for something completely out of their control.

The MLB did that with the Marlins when they fucked up and it sucked for them but oh well, their fault.

They beat KC last year regular season, but non-divisional teams that face each other multiple times often flip-flop as the coaches learn and adapt.

I hate giving QB's all the credit, but Mahomes is crazy good. Most of what he was known for his rookie year was his ability to scramble and toss the ball side armed with the same accuracy as overhand. The best way to beat Mahomes is to let him throw the ball and hope for good pass defense. If you force his hand by pressing him out of the pocket to make him do it all, he might.... When I see that smirk he gives on the sidelines, it makes me think he's a punk kid....hah....but when you hear him talk, you realize he's not. He just loves the game and the rush. He's literally out there enjoying it every play and that's what makes him scary. Having said that, I only expect him to have another 3-4 good seasons before he won't be able to keep up. That style of player usually ends up taking on small injuries that add up and age catches them all. Enjoy watching him now. He's in his prime.

Far as I can see at this point (as usual barring injury) the only player in the NFL who can beat Mahomes is .... Mahomes!

To me it seems like he just stops taking things seriously sometimes and coasts ... that's when things go sideways. KC as constituted lives and dies with him in terms of beating good teams so its a problem.

Have to say though its extremely difficult to not like the guy! I started out hating him (as a player) but have since converted and am now a semi-fan.

🙂

It's hard to hate on a guy who's so fun to watch.

What i saw of the game, Tannehill played really well. He's someone i haven't watched a lot when he was in Miami.

I expect Mahomes to last, because it seems that he's giving the intellectual side of the game full attention. He mentioned something last year about things starting to slow down or something and he was "getting it" or something regarding reading defenses. So he was literally lightning the league up for two seasons without fully processing everything that a defense was throwing at him but he finally reached the point he can comprehend basically everything he is seeing. He can't just "unlearn" that.
