Why?

I have an Abit BX6r2, Powerleap Ver. 2 adapter, CAS2 PC133 Crucial, Artic Silver 3, PEP66T with Pico Ace Sanyo Denki fan.

BIOS may be tweaked still...I am at full speeds on memory, precharge,etc....I don't know what to lower first that won't actually cause a slow down.

I tried going up to 1.8 volts at 133 and no go at my current BIOS settings.

Thanks

Chris

I have the same setup as you (diff ram and stock fan) and I can't get it to boot up at 133...when did buy your chip?

Off the for sale here last week...supposedly purchased about a month or so ago from Newegg. Forgot to write down the chip info before I heatsinked it :(.

maybe it can't get to 133 cuz of the bx chipset...
my 1.1a boots at 133 no prob.. but can't get it any higher than 1.47 no matter the voltage.
it's on a cuv4x though... maybe it's reachin the limits of the chip.
my cooling sucks as i can post up to like 1.65 but can't boot to win xp

I lowered my BIOS settings (forgot the cache latency though...). At 3-3-3, 5 sec IDE delay, and 1.80Volts got corruption warning on XP boot....I am happy with 1.42 at 1.55V. :) Running at 129MHz FSB isn't too much different than 133....if I could get to 138 or 142 it may be worth trying harder, but my PCI and AGP would be way overclocked.

You may be at the limit of your CPU. My 1.2Ghz Tually is able to do 1.5Ghz (125FSB) at default in either my Soyo TISU MB or with my old Abit BX6 (r2) and PL adapter. 1.6Ghz requires a LOT of overvoltage (IMO, not worth it).

Your PCI won't be much out of spec - although your AGP will - at higher than 133FSB as you DO have a 1/4 PCI divider over 124 FSB on your Abit MB.

Ummm...no ;)
I have a BX-Setup and (see sig) get some decent overclock...

With 133FSB=1733MHz @ 1.8V I can even boot WinXP, but it isn't really stable for long... @131FSB(=1710) it is :D

I don't want to run such high voltages, so I run rock stable 1675MHz@1.6V...

Maybe the powerleap is the problem...my chip is modded...and also B1 stepping...but a friend got his A1 1.2GHz to work at 133FSB/1.6GHz/1.6V without problems, too...(same setup)

could be the PL I guess on Overclockers.com though someone got to 1.5+ with one.

I am sort of fine with 1.42 at 1.5V though and all BIOS settings to the maximum performance.

In a month or so I will play with it again :)

Do you have any PCmark scores?
CPU: 4250
Mem: 1800 ok, no rdram-scores
HDD: 600 UDMA-33

But in practical gaming use these figures thankfully don't have that much weight ;)

I guess Rambus really helps out.. :) I never seen score for SDRAM vs RAMBUS
Here the link for any others that want to see my scores too

8038 3DMarks with 300/300 on my 8500 128MB Retail...will tweak timing more, at 306/306 it corrupted on Dragolich high. No tweaking other than raising clock speed.

Sure . . . but first, I'd like to say I seriously DOUBT your PL adapter is holding you back (especially since it is ver 2.0). I got 1.5Ghz with my 1.2 Ghz Tually Celeron with my PL/BX board AND with my Soyo TISU (1.55v). Actually I CAN get 127FSB with the SOYO (+2FSB over the BX) but needs more voltage than I care to supply to be perfectly stable - 1.6v). And 133FSB requires over 1.8v. It is diminishing returns for higher and higher overvoltage.

My system is 1.2Ghz Celeron@1.5Ghz (125FSB), O/c'd Radeon 8500 (300/300), 384MB PC-133 and Win98SE.

3DMark2001 scores 8,200.

PC Marks is:
CPU 3773
Memory 2123
HD 1092

and for the UT2K3 (1024x768) benchmark it is:
101 flyby
38 botmatch

I would like to find a new Mobo that would let me overclock my chip(P3 1.2 512K) more but I can't find any mobo that have 1/5 and/or have DDR or RAMBUS ram....anyone know of any mobo like that?

Sure, but then it's a P4 mb . . . ;) I believe you and I are at the end of an upgrade path. :D

I have no problem with it . . . it started with a PII333 O/C'd on a BX MB - I went first with PowerLeap than a Soyo TISU. That's it for the PIIIs.
