Minimum:

OS: Windows Vista SP2 32-bit (with KB971512 Platform Update)
Processor: AMD Athlon X2 2.8 GHz or Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz
Memory: 4 GB
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 3870 or NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
Graphics Memory: 512 MB
Hard Drive: 30 GB

Recommended:

OS: Windows 8 64-bit
Processor: AMD six-core CPU or Intel quad-core CPU
Memory: 8 GB
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 7870 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
Graphics Memory: 3 GB
Hard Drive: 30 GB

I am just super annoyed that Win 8 is the recommended OS.Is this one gonna use directx 11.1?

They always recommend the latest OS. DX9 games also recommended Vista, later on Windows 7 and even Windows 8 today.

So no exclusive directx 11.1 features?

What features would that be? 11.2 is also hitting the next month or so. 8.1 RTM is out. But people seems so focused on these microscopic semi useless updates. I guess people will soon update OSes every year too in hopes of...something. The business case for MS clearly worked out.

I think the minimum requirement of Vista says what it really is.

Supposedly DX 11.1 has enhanced CPU optimizations that increase rendering output..

These features were added by Microsoft at the request of Dice apparently..

IIRC there were some shader and compiler enhancements among other things. Regarding performance no idea though.

That's what I question too, C2D struggled already in BF3's multiplayer

repi also said on his twitter that the CPU optimizations in DX11.1 will work on any DX11 GPU, because it's in software

Isnt this basically using the same game engine as BF3?

I had a e8200 core 2 duo which was a 2.66Ghz dual core,it handled singleplayer BF3 just fine but forget even attempting multiplayer.

Loving some of the reactions in the BF4 thread in the pc gaming portion of the forums, got one guy telling me to gtfo cause i explained how i just hate the idea of switching my os for a game unless there's something windows 8 will provide that would be dramatically different as i don't care for windows 8 and metro.

There is talk about some sort of cpu optimization with 11.1 and windows 8 and personally that is a important thing worth mentioning.

minimum should be good for single player I guess, same as BF3...

3870 was ATI Radeon, not AMD Radeon

What about Graphics memory....? It says 3GB which is 1GB more than I have and is what's recommended. That's the elephant in the room unless I'm mistaken. Time to upgrade is fast approaching.

AMD bought ATI in 2006, the HD3000 series was released in 2007.

the merge, acquisition or whatever doesn't mean automatic changes to their branding or whatever is called, 5000 (2009) series was still called ATI Radeon...

I absolutely knew it. Many said it wouldn't happen, but my 670's just got crapped on. So did all of your 7870's, 680's etc. I'd hate to buy more current gen cards, so I won't.

EDIT: Oh, don't forget to trash your brand new, $400+ GTX770's while you are at it.

I assure you it won't happen, not with BF4. I don't think its mere coincidence this is an AMD gaming evolved game and happens to "recommend" the amount of VRAM higher end AMD cards come with.

Your still pretty much set with sli gtx670s,guessing the recommended specs are for 1080p huh?

I game at 1200p so i guess the gtx770 i recently purchased was a wise choice,i almost went with something like a 7950 or gtx760 but now glad i didn't.
