Tsunami thoughts

So the other day i was talking to a co-worker and she brought up the fact that the tsunami happened the day after(there abouts) Christmas and killed mostly non-christians. Not being religious i didn't think much of it but i guess she does have a point.

I also have a friend in the navy on a ship in the indian ocean. He sent me an e-mail telling me how bad it smells (like roadkill, only 100x worse) and that they were refueling underway and the refuels ship would hit some of the bloated corpses and launch them in the air. He has seen 15-20 corpses(sp?) out there so far and that was about a week ago or so.

I don't know really why i am posting this but this thread is what provoked me i think.

If a tsunami had hit the US it would have been as devistating or would our buildings stood up better? Saved by building codes?

Exactly. The chances of a tsunami hitting the bible belt are slim to none. SE Asia is a earthquake prone area.

If you add up all the death and damage done by those things it still doesn't even compare to the tsunamis.

Sometimes you just gotta chalk a natural disaster up to natural disaster. You can read anything into any event if you try hard enough.

i don't think people were killed by the buildings , they were washed out to see and drowned. the buildings don't matter , it is how close the people are to the water
