I would stay away from "tsunami bracelets," as I have not heard of an official relief cause going this direction Wheatmaster.

there are plenty of other ways to contribute. If you dont want to send your money to places that will just waste it, then look into some specialized charities. I donated what I could to a group that distributes diabetic supplies to people in need. There are tons of others though, do a google search and see if you find something that interests you.

No kidding. Why does anyone feel the need to make a show of how much money they've donated???

some people feel that donating money makes them a better person. Personally, I donate my time and money when I can. I do some volunteer work that is completely thankless. Other work I do is more interactive so I get more feedback. But I don't do any of those looking for thanks or praise. I do them because not many others will.

You should donate to charity to feel good about what you have done. I am going to stop before I get all worked up.

because they waste more money than any other "charity" out there. Don't you remember 9-11? It took major media outlets and lawsuits for those people to get their money.

yep... something as big as Red Cross must have a huge overhead unfortunately.

uh. i'd donate to any country except for indonesia, because they are kicking the american troops out of the country -- they apparently don't want american aid.

there was a thread in the OT forum addressing this point that i wanted to refer to, but it's been deleted. as for why that was, i don't know, but i didn't see anything harmful about posting that piece of national news. (and it's not in P&N either)

Get their money from who? Red Cross? I am not sure I follow. Why would the Red Cross owe anyone money?

Weird..but it probably would fit much better in P&N...

Because donors sent it with the expectation it would get to "those people"

welcome to ATOT. We are censored, flamed on, and virtually gagged. We have no rights, we dare not speak the truth.

But we keep coming back. If you ever figure out why, let me know.

PS. I love you mods.

exactly. That money was sent just for the people in need. But the Red Cross decided it was going to keep some of the money for its own use.

Granted, some people did try to scam the system, but there were many more that were out there hurting and in need of the money while the Red Cross collected interest on it.

it's not there, and if anyone was able to read my comment, someone had mentioned that it may be a better fit in the news forum, but i said that not all ATOTers go to the p&n forum. i think that discussion here is warranted about that particular issue. i mean, it's all over the news, and it's pertinent to our lives as american citizens, so why delete that thread?

beats me... as far as i saw, there wasn't even any bashing in that thread. it was just plain old discussion. what happened to using the lock function?

i'm sorry to offend the mod if he's from indonesia. this is worldwide news. there's no reason to hide it.

Once again, I motion for a specific list of what is and is not acceptable in OT. It will never happen, but its still worth mentioning.

Because what else would we do?

Actually do work at the jobs we're paid for? Put on pants, go outside, and meet girls? Pshaw...
