TSA plan will allow you to bypass security, if you pay

So why not enable those of us with passports to bypass the freaking lines an searches.

Wow, you are a damn loon. You do realize that you still pose as much of a threat as the grandma currently being strip searched, and nowhere near the threat the 5 middle eastern dudes wearing "Taliban 4 Life" shirts out having a smoke and joking about whose lighter burns the brightest. That is, unless you have both a passport... and $150.

Hell, I'd pay $5 just to slap the back of the head of the idiot slowing down the line at security because they can't figure out how to take out their 1-quart zip lock bag of 3-oz fluids, take out their laptop, take all the crap out of their pockets, ESPECIALLY anything metallic (!!!), and take their frikkin' shoes off too!!

Doesn't matter how much they coach these morons, they're still setting off the metal detector, THEN finding their keys in the pocket......or their watch on their wrist, or they forget to empty their pockets before going through the EZ-Bake X-ray machine, so they have to get a pat down. Seriously, there ought to be a line for frequent travelers.......and then a line for idiots that fly once a decade. 🙄

What annoys me is that I went through a line recently where I got bitched at for having my passport in my pocket. Apparently when going through one of these new full body scanners you should have nothing on you at all. Seriously? They're so advanced they can't figure out that's a passport in my pocket? (Insert junk joke here)

This goes to show that even the TSA understands that in terms of security, they're essentially useless; it's a simple cash grab plus the illusion of security, coupled with the idea of getting the American public used to an intrusive government that assumes that you have no right to privacy.

Wow. If I were a terrorist organization, I'd immediately start getting a few guys on the path toward being allowed to bypass this charade of security. How long would it take? 5 years? 6 years? Give them a "legitimate" reason to be frequent fliers, and wait patiently.

Well, that wouldn't work. Everyone knows that terrorists aren't patient.

some places or airlines or something have that, i think. a good friend of mine got a travelling instructor job a few months ago and has been flying all over the fucking place, and told me about some damn service with some damn airline that has saved him a lot of time in line

star service or something maybe? i forget who he usually flies with
/half helpful, at best

If I were a terrorist, I'd just blow up the airport and not the airplane.

Seriously, it's been 10 years. Time to drop the charade. Security is realistically no better than it was on September 10th, 2001. None of these measures have caught a single terrorist. They've all been reactionary. It's been a colossal waste of money. Not only in the United States but also for other countries who fly into/over it.

this is ultimately an elaborate-huge dog and pony show. If I were in charge of our domestic security I would guard our shopping malls, buses, theaters, etc, instead of white grandmas at the damn airports. The average "us" got suckered into this safety and security bullshit since 9/11/01.

Wouldn't even have to hit the airport, to cause massive terror. Remember the last time you flew, when you were taxiing out for takeoff? Think about it.....major airport, heavy departure time......I bet at the end of the runway, there's 8 to 12 fully loaded heavies sitting there. Fully loaded with people, fully loaded with fuel.

I'll let you imagine the rest..... 😵

Why would you want to opt out of a search. Every time i get some play below the belt for free is a good day. To pay $150 NOT to get my junk touched is illogical.
