The story isn't so far-fetched, and reminds me of a similar story in a neighboring progressive state from June 2010.

Red & Black cafe shows Portland officer the door, won't sell him coffee again
The Oregonian
Thursday, June 03, 2010, 3:41 PM

"In mid-May, Portland police Officer James Crooker went to Southeast Portland on a patrol call. With a few minutes to spare, he decided to get a coffee.

So, he popped into the Red & Black cafe on Southeast 12th Avenue near Oak Street, bought a coffee and was heading out when a customer approached him, saying she appreciates the hard job that police officers do every day in Portland.

One of the co-owners of the cafe, John Langley, has another point of view. While the officer and customer were chatting, he walked up and asked Crooker to leave, saying he felt uncomfortable having a uniformed officer in the vegan cafe.

The incident, which was brief, speaks volumes about the tensions between Portland police and some members of the community who are more worried about police shootings than protection.

Crooker said he was surprised to be shown the door but left immediately. He said this marked a first during his nine-year in law enforcement, two in Portland and seven in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

"The places that I've been kicked out of before have been places like the methadone clinic," he said. "I've never been kicked out of a regular cafe.""

The rest of the story can be read here: http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2010/06/red_black_cafe_shows_portland.html

Vegan cafe

Hopefully those stupid hippies will get robbed by a gun toting thug. We'll see how their attitudes toward cops change after that.

I think it's BS that the they are going after the TSA workers. We near about the bad ones but I'm sure there are plenty that are decent people. If you don't like the policy, you should be hounding legislators to control the TSA policy. I'm not sure how far an elected official is from the ones that make actual TSA policy.

they are not allowed to do that, TSA agents are a protected class, they are just asking for a lawsuit

Of course they are not a protected class.

Christopher Elliot, the original author of the piece, receives an anonymous email and blogs about it. He has backed away from the story today, calling it an "interesting anecdot" and speculating that someone "made it up", ie, lied to him in an email. What a clown.

So if someone pissed on your head and when confronted they said their boss told them to do it you would give the person who actually pissed on your head a pass?

I read that story a while back ago. The owner is a jackass but within his rights even though if he were to get robbed and beaten the first thing he would do is call the cops to help his sorry ass. You also got wonder if this guy would of approached a black cop in the same manner. Naw picking easy targets to rail against is the progressive way.

I had been giving a "cop shop" free rent in a space in a building I own for 15 years, thinking that having a police presence was important for our rural community. Last year the soda machine outside the building was opened up and had all the cash taken in broad daylight.

I went down to the "cop shop" where a detective was "doing paperwork" and asked him to follow me 150 feet to take a look. He couldn't be bothered. Too busy. Screw them, if the jerks can't humor me for supplying them with a free heated space to do their reports in the middle of the night they can damn well do the reports out in their freezing car on the side of the road.

Needless to say the "cop shop" doesn't get free rent anymore, and I will throw them out as soon as able.

My "sorry ass" wouldn't call the cops for anything. Over the years they have done nothing for me, and in my town the possibility of getting shot/killed by them is high. If suicide is on your list then call the cops, otherwise probably not.
