Ok, I am a cheapo and I am trying to salvage my InWin S500 case. I really liked it when I got it a long time ago, and I still like it. However the power supply just won't cut it anymore. I would like to swap it with another power supply, preferably a cheapo 350W power supply. But I have no idea, which power supplies will fit in that case.

My question is, are their power supply form factors, and how do I figure out what form factor I have and need. I emailed InWin but nobody seems to be home (go figure).

If anybody has these cases, or knows about PS form factors, please let me know, and you can even suggest a cheap 300W PS.

I'd really like to keep these cases (I have two), they aren't my main computer anymore, but I use them as servers and software developing machines. Thanks for the help.

ATX is an industry standard, so any ATX PS should fit in any ATX case. Newegg, Directron, Googlegear, & Z-Buy (and others--check resellerratings.com) are reputable e-tailers to check out. See which deal you like best. Enhance PSes faired fairly well in Anand's latest PS roundup. They were very affordable when I bought mine some time ago, and whereas I haven't noticed any better performance or reliability compared to other units (I have never had a problem with any PS), the construction was second to none--far surpassing any other I have owned (admittadly, these were budget units). Good luck!

I don't think all ATX PS are the same. I think the location of the plug, or the direction the wires are coming out from the PS differ between make and brand will effect whether it works in the case or not. In fact I do believe I tried to move one ATX case's PS to another ATX case, and it didn't work, because the wires were coming out of the wrong side.

In which case you have a non-standard case. All ATX power supplies adhere to the same basic design.

I realize I am bumping an older thread, I am using this case still (I plan on retiring it as my main case eventually, it really is still a good little case)

It started with a 250w supply, I upgraded it to a 300, and then a 350 later on (was unsure on the reliability of my 300.)

All you have to do is unhook all connectors on the supply (obviously) unscrew the 4 screws holding it in place, and then put your new supply back in place.
