Anyways I got my new tester and it seems like I found one connector that not all 8 pins were connected but after 3 tries failed I got out my box of cat 5 cable and decided to run new cable about 15' to go from router to the switch as there both in same room and good chance to see it these rj 45 pass through connectors worked or not or I would return them for refund. On the first try I got good connection and hooked up cable to my switch and back in business.

Thanks for all the help.

I am now seeing that all of my wired connections can be run on WiFi like I just switched my Brother printer from wire to wireless and that seem be good for my needs and assuming I can do wireless printing with my android devices?

I use to need my wired connection for the speed as I hooked my PCs and other devices to do software installations and a lot of huge file transfers but that not needed much these days I use my USB 3 and sata devices to hook up my PCs directly.

I have 2 PCs I hook up my with some AC adapters and I want to be able to get all of my 100mbs speed and maybe cover if I go to Verizon the 1gb speeds.

Also I want to move my router and modem back where they were but that location was not as good as the one its at now in the center of my room so I need some way to boost my WiFi signal are there wireless boosters I can use?

I prefer to have good cheapest solutions as opposed to the best money can buy Thanks I know people will have suggestions and feedback so let me post this now.

My Router is the Verizon Gateway I think model is G 100 using it with a Netgear Comcast compatible modem

I been having a lot of problems with my wired network these days and decided to install 2 of these wi-fi adapters I dont want to install any nics as I prefer to be able to use the adapters where needed.

I am also upgrading my router to hopefully have a better one the the Verizon Gateway I been using last 2 years as I moved to my current Xfinity setup just disabled that modem got a top of the line Netgear modem to use.

The gateway I read goes 800 mbs and the Netgear goes 1200-1300 mbs and I the wifi adapters I seen go 1200 mbs so how does this compare to using my 100 mbs Xfinity connection as these numbers dont seem to add up so 2 questions

1. you thinks worthwhile to upgrade the Gateway with speed as well as features?

2. How is my adapters and router going as opposed to my my 100 mbs internet speed will the wifi setup be fast enough or will I need to be wired for top speed?

Wifi speed class is basically best case scenario. Like when you are right next to the wifi router. Go to smallnetbuilder and look at router reviews and pick something in your price range. Personally I would fix the wired network then put switches and wireless access points on the end of the wire so you have better coverage.

I don't know what you are refering to as wifi adapter, do you mean wireless network cards? Or wifi bridge?

Your LAN speed is independent of WAN speed. As long as your LAN speed is higher than your WAN speed, you are using all the bandwidth you paid your isp, assuming everything is working as advertised.

I was tired meant to post the links of my intended purchases here are those
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076CJR5B1/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?smid=A1D4C4SAFUCWYL&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F0DD0I6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_5?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

I have had a wire that caused on of my initial problems with my network that from I found it not the connectors at the end causing that network cable to fail as I used the passthrough rj45 connectors but I also moved my router to the middle of my room on a big table used for my PC thats there and connecting to my HDTV as well seeing how it has wired and wireless connections available. thats also became a problem when I tried to connect the network cable trying to run it up my wall and across the ceiling and the ceiling will no longer support the cable at least with the cable stapler I been using.
I was able to try to run this last night with my brothers help as I am disabled now with neck back and headaches that happened in 2011 so I am unable to redo all of my old work.

I know this network stuff as someone can maintain and fix my network and know most of the tech involved but on using this AC wireless I dont have any experience with it for speed and my main thing would be I d/l a lot of big files and I want to be able to use my wifi when times come that one of my 2 network wires go down on my 2 PCs that I can still be connected to the net and be able to get my files at the best speed available with using my wifi connection.

How fast will my 100 mps be using the wifi be. As far as rerunning any network cables that all depends on if I that are needed now ass right now the new cable I could not run is on the carpet as well as my hdmi connection as thats another problem that I have not having cheap wireless hdmi connection I
need.

My landlord will help but he is very busy and it could be many months before he has time to make that fix so most of my appt is working well enough for there needs like my dot, fire, 3 HDTVs ROKU so thats not my problem but I still need my 2 PCs to have fast somewhat cheap prefer like $200 setup with the new netgear router and the 2 1200 mbs adapters. 1 PC be right at router about 4 feet other PC in my bedroom about 25-30 feet no walls in between

Most modern routers can handle 100mbps internet service. However, you might want to shop arund a bit to see which are KRACK patched.

Any reason you are looking at that usb wifi nic? It will not dissipate heat well. Fine for browsing, not so much for file transfer.

As to hdmi, there are ethernet hdmi extenders, so you can use cat 6 to extend hdmi.

Example
https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=21609

There are also wireless options, but of course they cost more and are less reliable.

As I stated its a literal pita to open up my 2 PCs cases so the nics would need to be permanently mounted. I can do that but they need to be cheap nics which I did not find any when I briefly looked so if there a link that would help to purchase.

Also I still work on PCs as thats what I did for a living but right now not having many jobs but its great to be able to hook up a couple of PCs I am working on and add them to my network.

I will buy my products with my amazon or newegg card so I break up the payments but have a very limited resources when making this purchase.

Wired network will always be cheaper and more reliable.

This type of usb nic works better

so I back to see what happened with the 50-75' cable I used to to connect to 2 switches and when I connect tester to cable it shows no light on pin 8 when I tested on both ends of the cable and my new tester says non parallel and not sure what that means but as far as pin 8 not blink testing and I tested both ends that mean the cable broke correct?

Just redo one connector/socket at a time. Test after you replace first one.

How can I test just one connector at a time when you need to hook both ends to the tester I not seen a way to do this.

I have redone this many times already using my passthrough rj45 connectors to make sure I have to coding layout so while that might be true that one in awhile the tool did not connect the 8 wires why same results every time?
Plus I had another cable that I made works fine so I know I doing the job right

I am assuming the cable is terminated on both ends right now since you tested it.

So replace one end, test again, if still faulting, replace the other end. If replacing both doesn't fix it, make a new run. You can have your brother staple it in place once it is working.

I have this new tester https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FFIA268/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza
This tester when I use it my cable no matter how many times I change the end connectors it it shows pin 8 not lit and it has a light on the tester that says Non-Parallel that is lit up no other lights are lit and been unable at least asking at Amazon what that light is for if the meaning is because only see 7 wires connected than that would def mean cable is broken inside and needs to be replaced which will be a pita to do but be its easier to run a new cable along the baseboard than trying to get another cable on the ceiling which we just tried monday.

I have tons of furniture to move for a new run though

I finally able to fix 1 of my 2 cable and it has a passthrough type connector on 1 end and I use the 1 port box on the other end and it checks out fine so I know those are working.

The other 75' cable I could never get to work this weekend I added new cable its still needs to be stapled and trimmed and I use 2 passthrough rj45 connectors and it worked on first try so my network will be running fine.

I also bought the new router and added 2 wireless connectors so the PCs can run on wire or wireless and where I will be working on other PCs from time to time I bought 2 of $20 usb wireless adapters to use.

I like the new router as it has enough of a signal to cover my apt and wont need to use my old router for added coverage :)

I was able to finally run a new 75' network cable using what left from the 1000' spool I bought long ago to see if that would fix that part of my downed network and I works fine now.

I was able to use the pass through rj45 connectors and they worked on my first attempt so they are fine to use.

I will never forget my wiring code orange white, orange, green white, blue, blue white, green, brown white, brown for any more networking jobs in the future ;)
