It was an early 3D game from the 386-era... it was a complete blast to play!

It was all about speeding through 3D tunnels that would twist and turn, occasionally left/right fork, you could run out of room real quick when you had to squeeze through a tiny square hole after a tight turn.
You had a simple blaster for taking out turrets along the way and there were two powerups you could get:
purple gave you a shot from top as well as bottom and could take out moving walls
red gave you a more powerful shot that would blow through turrets with a single shot.

Any clue of the title? :( Trying to find via abandonware.

Star Goose was the XT era and was a 2D top-down scroller.

MegaRace was a little later... CD-ROM stuff. You can't actually see the spacey-type thingy you're driving, and you're not racing against competitors, only trying to desperately beat the clock.

Duck Hunt was the post of a complete moron. ;)

Should I have a "No Silliness" sign up??? C'mon... I'm serious here.
Drop the Pac-Man, Duck Hunt crap. :Q :(

If it helps, it had a loader screen that played kind of a jazzed-up version of Tocatta and Fugue... similar to Gyruss if I remember right.

It was a 3D game but it was almost pure "straight ahead" view from your eyes. Just tunnels, nothing else. REAL simple graphics, no 3D objects, just lines/boxes as you whizzed through them.

The powerups remind me of a game at ChuckeCheese. If you go there trying to find out what it is, its not a game where people are around a lot. You sit inside it and it has a "roof" ontop as well and you insert the coins outside, not where you sit down. Oh yeah, and the blasters too, sounds like that.

EDIT: After a level or two, it had people on the sides shoting at you.

It was never quite THAT 3D.... you were moving FORWARD so fast, you never really went side-to-side or up/down more than a big dip in the tunnel. If you were shot by a turret or just plain hit the tunnel walls at high speed you damaged your "ship".

HAAAAAAAAA!!!! I found it!!!

Tunnels of Armageddon!
May not look like much in the screenshot and it was simple even back then when Prince of Persia was brand new... but it was so incredibly fast, even on a 386! I remember it being a lot of fun....

I know this isn't what you're after, but by the sounds of it, you might be interested in Ballistics, which is a very similar game to what you described.

Easy - Tunnels of Armageddon. I played that on an old Apple IIgs in second grade.

Edit - Beaten to it. Damn.

And btw, that link seems to be describing a totally different game. "Bumping objects off walls ... racing game"? WTF?

Last time I played it, you were trying to speed through alien ships/corridors in order to stop their fusion core thingamajig from coming online and vaporizing the earth. The tunnels were colour-coded (green was long but easy, grey was moderate, and red was short but hard). There was a life bar and a time bar ... time bar was green when it was stopped (by destroying generators as you flew by) and red when it was normal speed.

"You have failed. The earth will be destroyed."

Never did win that game. :(
