Trying to remember the name of a movie....

I believe it was made in the late eighties and involved a Soviet tank crew lost in Afghanistan. I could have sworn that the title was 'The Tier' but it's not coming up on imdb.com. Does anyone remember this movie?

Beast, The -- Set in 1981 Afghanistan, the story begins with the brutal destruction of a village by a squadron of Soviet tanks and then follows its aftermath in which a lone, lost tank is stalked by Afghan rebels. Directed by Kevin Reynolds, the gruesome opening massacre is eventually counterpointed with philosophical and psychological conflicts, mainly between the heartless tank commander (George Dzundza) and a young tank driver (Jason Patric) who emphathizes with the brutalized Afghans. I know the film was on showtime a few months ago.. good film.. damn forgot too.
