I  coffee.

Anyone who impedes my morning intake of caffeine is taking their life in their hands.

Sugar is the reason I stopped drinking coffee in the morning. I just don't enjoy it without sugar and I was trying to cut out sugar. Now I have tea instead, less the half the caffiene, and I don't crash/crave more caffiene in the afternoon. I occasionally have a soda or a cup of coffee on the weekends, but otherwise it's just tea and water.

I stopped after a habit of 64 ounces a day. To me, that was a lot. But I was having panic attacks so they said to either stop drinking alcohol or stop drinking coffee. I elected for coffee. Don't really miss it either. Never had the headache problem as mentioned above.

I was up to 2 cups of coffee a day when I decided to drink somthing else in the morning, but I don't put any sugar in the coffee. 6 sodas? I think that's going to be a sugar rush addiction.

forget addiction, how about diabeties bait lol:)

I'm the same...
Caffeine could only keep me awake until the age of 12-13.
As for the acid: i don't have any heartburns, just mild "acid reflux" every time I consume too many acidic drinks. Pepsi and Coke contain way too much phosphoric acid for me.

Eh, that's how I was, but I just drank it black for a bit and I re-acquired my taste for it. It's still not the greatest, but gets the job done. Much better for me than the 4-6 sugars plus creamer I had been using.
Whatever it's negative side effects, coffee has beneficial health effects as well.

I'm quite certain the acid reflux has little to do with the little bit of acidity in the drinks you consume; rather, it's the caffeine acting as a relaxant on the cardiac valve allowing some of the gastric nonsense to get into your esophagus. Some people are more sensitive than others it seems.

Quitting caffeine is the best thing I could have done for my body and teeth.

I had to relapse last Thursday to stay awake for a paper. I drank a liter of Mountain Dew and I had stomach cramps all day Friday and was nauseaus. Never realized how much caffeine messes with you when you're not adapted to it.

After 8 cans of mt.dew within 2 hrs of studying organic chemistry and having the worst stomach pain ever, I managed to quit caffeine very quickly. Now, im drinking maybe a 20oz of pepsi once every 2 weeks.

You don't think it had anything to do with the one liter of Mountain Dew?? The insane amount of sugar, acids, etc. had no effect; it was just the caffeine, right?

You can always buy Vivarin or No-doz, or even pure crystallized caffeine and just add it to water and avoid taking in any unnecessary side ingredients.

Not to mention the brominated vegetable oil; I'm sure bromine can't be bad for your body at all, huh?

Then it might not be acid reflux, my medical skills are very elementary.
However, I'm pretty sure that caffeine has nothing to do with it.
After consuming too much acidic food (lemons, vinegar, etc.) I tend to get an acidic, burning feeling in my throat [in extreme cases (certain fishes) I get a weird feeling in my esophagus/chest/??? as well, but that could be an allergic reaction, since I got that every time I ate those fishes in my life and this problem in particular only appeared when I was about 16]. Sometimes I get the feeling that I need to clear my throat (Well, it's not just a feeling, I can clear my throat).
Stress worsens the problem. Eating something (cookies, rice, bread, potatoes...) or drinking water makes it go away.
Taking a little "Natrium-Hydrocarbonicum" makes it go away as well.

Not drinking any severely acidic beverages or eating certain amounts of some foodstuffs makes the problem disappear.
When I was on a family vacation last year (about two weeks in Italy), I only drank water and ate the most healty foodstuffs I could. I was relaxed and felt much better.

I started on this same path 10 days ago and haven't looked back. I used to get migraines all the time, and I *think* it was because I had too much of a caffein(Sic?) intake.

So far, so good!
