Trying to get the most out of my Sempron 2200+ 1.5ghz proc before i do a overhaul. Im using that chip with a Biostar M7NCD motherboard. I set the bios options to auto memory, auto agp, and fsb to 200 from the 166 it was at. Didnt work. The computer keeps running after saving the bios, but the monitor doesnt come on. soooo i figured it must be the agp bus thingy not working at right frequency. Set that to 66mhz, auto memory, etc. but same thing so i had to reset cmos. I've heard others overclocking their semprons with no problems so i dont know where im wrong.

You may also need to increase the CPU core voltage some, I think Semprons default to 1.6v? You may need to go to about 1.65V, which is what the bartons use. You should be fine with the stock HSF even at 1.7v.

AthlonXP machines didn't get a whole lot of performance increase by increasing clock speeds but using a memory divider (this is contrary to the A64 which is engineered to be fine with memory dividers). You may want to take the memory off auto and set it to 1:1 (IF YOU HAVE PC3200... if you have PC2700 RAM, I'd most likely just live with it at stock, because some of your CPU speed gains will be offset from your memory running at a divider)

ya i got it to work. i was stupid and didnt use the "expert" options, which gives you options to increment it up little by little. So far im at 180fsb over the 166 i was at before, and from 1.494ghz to 1.623ghz now. im gonna keep going
