I just ordered a Toshiba E740 from Amazon & bought a E310 for my wife @ Staples, with a killer pricematch/coupon/rebate combo.

Cept I didn't put it on my CC, Rossman!!!! (& since I started listing my dead ex husband in law's Magic cards & albums on EBay, I'll hock my Palm M515 & wife's IPAQ 3650 to cover the upgrade expense...)

Hey....i think I could get close to him...I've got about 20k from buying a Truck, a few computers and various parts, school books, tuition, and prior CC bills. Lucky, I saw where this was going and joined one of those crappy Debt Management firms. (BTW, if you consider doing it and can afford to pay the bills currently, consolidate them if you can but DON'T join one of these debt management programs. Your credit dies.)

<--- learned the hard way

When I first left University, I ran up about $6K of credit card debt in my first year out (plus a new car loan as well). I looked at my cash flow and calculated that I was living from paycheque to paycheque with no room for a major car repair. I just stopped spending at that point and lived off of Mac and Cheese and Ramen noodles. I paid off the debt in a year and I haven't had a balance on my CC's since then (over a decade ago).

I spend more than ever today, I just don't spend more than I make (after savings).

In the last month I've bought a 50" HDTV, a E740 + accessories, a new computer, and a ton of baby items. Never missed a payment. I'm going to buy a new car (Subaru Forester to replace my 9 year old Impreza) and I have the money saved and ready to go. I'm even buying a Mox to support Pliablemoose's spending <grin>.

Skoorbie doesn't need to know. I'll slip the lappy through the window and you just slip the money. Then just tell him that you found it on the street and felt it needed a good home:)

Me too! I don't even want a good one, just one I can use for word crunching. I want to be able to write stories sitting outside near the garden (what's left of it) or in the spare room in my comfy chair with the window open next to me.

I'm waiting for one to be in my price range though.

If you don't mind jumping through a few hoops you can buy a brand new HP laptop for $519.

That's really a good deal, but out of my price range at the moment. I'd prefer a cheaper used one if at all possible.
