So I'm now looking for a new job and trying to line up my goals for the next 10 years or so. This should help me find a job that really allows me to accomplish something.

Currently I work in the tech department for my college. I've been here for two and a half years. I answer phones and run around doing desktop support tickets. Mostly email, Server 2003 AD User accounts and roaming profiles/storage management, moving equipment and basic tech stuff (i'm sure you understand the position.)

Before this job I had two other tech jobs of similar type, one at my high school and one at a previous college.

At this point I feel I'm no longer learning much from my current position and don't foresee any large changes that would let me extend my skills and experience. Hence the job hunt.

I'm 21 years old and still have about a year and a half of college left. And I'm Network+ Certified and working on my first Microsoft test (should have 70-290 done by end of month).

I'm going to start looking for a IT job in a consulting type office, somewhere that I can get hands on experience working in a large number of environments/offices. I think this will aide a lot in giving hands on experience to go with my future MCSE as well as getting to see a large number of technologies in practice. So either an Assistant or full time Desktop Support Professional and keeping this position till I graduate (2-3 years there).

At this point I'll look for possibly a senior level Desktop Support position and work on becoming very good at one skill (don't know what yet) so that I have a key to get into higher positions. Probably taking a new job in a corporate IT environment. (3 years).

From there I'll either take an advanced technology job or possibly try moving into a management type position. At this point I'll have roughly 8 years experience and a Business Degree from school.

Does this sound about right? What type of position would you be looking for right now?

I was also thinking about trying to get into Project Management, how is this for work? It sounds fun to me but I'm not sure what type of job track I'd take to get there. The position sounds like it'd be a good stepping stone to work into middle management though.
