If he purchased a home based on that rate, he'd be even stupider. That's why lending offices tend to want to see paystubs before loaning money.

No ya dumb ass.... when you calculate what you can afford... you base it upon how much money you earn each month, not based on how many you already have in your pocket... He has been told he now earns X amount each month, and has adjusted his life accordingly... who knows where the additional money went.. maybe he arranged to increase his 401K contribution. Also being $125 bucks short on his rent shows he hasn't gone spend crazy. He just finds himself in an uncomfortable position because of his manager's incompetence... it's not like he spent all his money and can't eat anymore...

You people need to calm down...

OP... you need someone to hold down your manager while you kick him... I got yo back...

*cough*biteme*cough*

;)

It's my money. End of story. Getting it eventually doesn't cut it.

Tell you what, loan me $500 and I'll get it to you. Eventually. Don't whine about it either.

;)

You didn't loan your company $500 so that analogy doesn't work at all. Just calm down. You can easily keep on living with the same paycheck that you've been living with for this long. Eventually, you'll get it in some sort of retro-payment check and it'll be freaking huge. :)

On the other hand, you could always just quit ;)

The only bad thing about those retro checks is that due to their size, they usually end up taking more taxes out of it. Hopefully, this will not be the case in this situation, though.

Duroc, You might want to bump your deductions up by a few for the next couple of pay periods to ensure they don't withold too much tax from the check. Once you are caught up, bring your deductions back to the normal level that you have in place now.

I once knew a guy that worked a lot of overtime during a long weekend with one day being the holiday. He was anticpating a nice check, so he went to H/R and bumped his deductions up to "10" for the federal and state witholdings so he could get more take-home pay from the check.

Thanks for the supportive comments folks. I even appreciate the negative ones, because they keep me honest to myself. :D

I've had 5 drinks now this evening and am much more relaxed. ;) I can think about it more objectively.

See, my wife is disabled (lupus) and my income is all we have for a family of 4. We're constantly running in the red, coming up just a bit short every month. It's adding up now, and my savings is blown. I'm about ready to crack open my 401k, which really ticks me off because that's my kid's college money. :|

So every penny really makes a difference in my life. I didn't count on the money on the first paycheck it should be on because I didn't trust this woman, not having worked for her before. But she swore she had submitted the proper paperwork and had assurances that it would be on the next check - the one I got last Friday. Since I get paid every 2 weeks, that should have been a full month's worth of my extra $10k a year. That's why I allowed us to dip into the rent, working with the promises my manager had given so freely that it would be resolved immediately.

So now, the rent is 11 days late (not wholly her fault) and going to be later (her fault) while I wait for her to straighten it out. HR/Payroll won't do jack without her signature.

I'm done screwing around with her. I'm going to the director tomorrow if the manager doesn't get it resolved. I've actually known this director for a few years, so I'm comfortable going to her. (All the "her's" ... Anybody else seing a trend? There's only one male manager out of the 5 that work for this director. LoL!) My only concern is that my manager will get in trouble with the director, and take it out on me. That's the reason for my hesitation. Sh!t rolls downhill, and I'd be right in the path.

Have you tried bringing her all the paperwork needed for the raise and retro pay from HR and not leaving her office until she signs them? Then bringing the sign papers directly to the HR and not leaving until they cut you a check? You'd be amazed at what people are willing to do to get someone out of their "space".

Here's how to handle it.

Go into her office and tell her that you have warned her for the last time and you will not be putting up with the sexual harassment and innuendos from her any longer.

Then tell her the only thing that will prevent you from going to HR and reporting her, is if you get your back pay pronto, and that your next check had better reflect the pay increase too.

Look her in the eye when you tell her, and be as dead serious looking as you can be.

LoL!

Actually, I wouldn't complain if she sexually harrassed me... She's got one of the most awesome rear ends I've ever seen. Really too bad she doesn't like guys. :p

She called in sick today. I nearly lost it. Then I get her in IM and she said she took care of it last night and the check will be ready this afternoon.

I sure hope so... :|

This really sounds like maybe she stuck her neck out a little too far giving you a raise/promotion.

She may be now trying to convince her superiors that you deserve a raise in order to cover that awesome rear end of hers. It may be best to be patient.

Naw, it was the director who pushed for this to happen.

As for pics, nothing showing off that spectacular feature. The rest is just ok...

Sorry about the lack of updates folks. I got sick...

Everybody's been pointing fingers at everybody else. My manager amazingly "found" the paperwork and it oddly enough hadn't been signed by the director. Hmmmm....

And of course, the director was in Colorado looking at a possible new location for our office (whole 'nuther story). She came back yesterday and signed it, but I won't get any money till next week.

I'm too sick to be really pissed, but this is just rediculous.

Really sorry to hear this happening. It's a lot of unneccessary stress, especially because you have a family. In the future, don't depend on/trust people!

Yep. I have colleagues who've had similar experiences with the HR ladies. Mostly regarding monthly claims issues, but they sure were royally pissed to the point of escalation to higher management.
