I already have a bachelors and work full-time. In college, other than classes I was somewhat involved and worked a lot, so I'm used to this type of load. I find myself with a lot of free time after work.

I'm thinking about enrolling at a local university to earn a certificate program that seems somewhat interesting. 5 courses at $800 each. I will be done with the program by December. All classes in the evening. Yes or No?
It would be something I could add to my resume.
It might be helpful in meeting people as well since I'm new to the area
but $4000 is a lot of money

Will this certificate get you a raise, promotion, or into the next job tier?

Additionally, do you want to learn the material and would you learn more from this course than you can on your own?

If so, then yes, it would be worth it.

a raise or promotion with my current company? no

however, it might open more doors by having the name of the school on my resume and possibly break into certain top tier companies when I decide to move on from my current company

yes, I do want to learn the material, the course descriptions are interesting and this program lasts only one semester

Seems like a lot of money for a somewhat abstract benefit. It *could* open some doors, but you're not sure, and it won't help you with your current company. I'm always for gaining new knowledge, but $4000 is a lot of money without knowing what the ultimate benefit will be. Could you possibly take one of the classes before committing to all of them? That would give you a potential entry into the program and you could find out if it truly will help you meet people and whether the program is worth the money.
