i booted up with the net.i bootdisk, then popped in the color.gz rootdisk when it asked
when i type ifconfig, it lists my network card, and i can ping the computer running the ftp with the slackware cd.

anyways, i type setup, and select the source for the installation files. i choose NFS, i enter my ip (10.0.0.3) , my subnet (255.255.255.0), the ip of the computer running the ftp (10.0.0.2), and the folder with the files (/slakware)

anyways, i keep getting the error

mount: RPC: Unable to receive; errno = Connection refused

what am i doing wrong? thx in advance

btw, i don't want to take out my cdrom and put it in the linux box :)

i was trying to install via ftp, but after further research...i don't think its possible.

so on my windows machine, i downloaded some cheapo nfs server, shared my d:\ (cd rom)
then in the slack setup, i put in the ip of the nfs server, and then it asks me for the folder where the slack files are. so i type "/slakware" because the files are in d:\slakware

it connects fine, but the error i get now is that that file or directory doesn't exist. am i typing in the wrong path? even when i leave the path blank, i get the same error. i've tried a billion combinations with no luck.

any ideas?
thx in advance :)

I've never used any NFS software for Windows so I can't really help with that. I think ftp is probably easier than NFS. Why do you think an ftp install won't work?
