Trying to install Red Hat Linux on my Sony Vaio....

Look at RH's hardware compatibility list.

EDIT: Or hit the button to load the drivers from a disk during the install.

Maybe he uses Redhat at work.

It's impossible to make specific recommendations without knowing what version of redhat you are installing and what model your laptop is.

If he has Redhat, he has support from Redhat... so call Redhat?
