trying to get ram stable

I've managed to get the system stable at the following specs:

4.2 ghz @ 21 x 200
Vcore = 1.3375
Qpi/dram (uncore voltage) - 1.45
ram @ 1600 6-7-6-18 with 1.66v

I've tried to go for 4.5 ghz though, but I'm having issues with getting the ram stable

I downclocked the cpu to 3 ghz and tried the ram at 1720, 1756, and 1800 at 7-7-7-20, 8-8-8-24, 9-9-9-24 @ 1.76v for all of those settings
qpi remained at 1.45, vcore at 1.3375.

It's not crashing or bsoding. In fact, i'm playing games on it while running prime. But it gets errors in prime and linx and it stops. Any advice on where I can go from here?

First, I think you CAN'T go over 1.65 volts on I7. What are the complete system specs ?

Sucks when ram kills the overclock doesn't it.

Don't think that there is much you can do other than maybe pick up better ram.

Seeing how the default voltage on your chips is 1.66v I'd say your mem has already been factory overclocked to start

The standard is 1.50v as far as I can tell. With ddr3 1600 with stock voltage of 1.50v you may have a shot at it.

IIRC it can go over but volts on another setting have to stay within .3 or something of it.

Did you try to see if it would be stable with the ram at a much lower setting and volts? Like well under 1600? If it is stable there then you know something...

O you certainly can go over 1.65v but it is not recommended by Intel from what I've heard.

Yeah, the ram ran fine(say that 5 times fast) from around 1000 to 1600, although I didn't try lowering the voltage. Maybe if I really loosen the timings to something like 11-11-11-24 they'll work, but that just makes me regret not having just gone with a better kit in the first place. I had no idea ram would hold me back before heat.
