I've been trying to figure out why Windows XP Pro SP2 only sees 3 of the four monitor ports on my video cards. Here is the situation. Currently running a Geforce 8800GTX w/ 2 Dell 2001FP monitors attached, Also running a Geforce 6600GT in the second PCIe slot of my ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe Mobo. A Dell E173FP Monitor is connected to that presently and running fine.
I am trying to add one last monitor to the rig, a 15" Dell LCD so I can view web pages I'm developing in native 1024x768 res easily. Problem is my display properties only sees three monitors. There is no 4th grayed out monitor to activate.
In the nVidia control panel under "Set Up Multiple Displays" When I select the 8800GTX it shows the option to use various Dual Display modes, but when I select the 6600GT card it only shows the option "Only use one display (single)". (Even though the 6600 has both a DVI and VGA port, and I know it supports dual monitors)
The same is true of another rig I've built using ATI cards, a Dual head Radeon 9000 and Dual head PCI Radeon 9250, only three of the four monitor ports are shown in XP.
Any hints or tips? Don't know what is to blame for this, but I sure would love to get this up and running somehow.
