trying to get LCD and crt to work together

the POST screen shows up o both my LCD and my CRT but after POST, the CRT enters power save mode and the LCD remains on. how can make them both work?

Do you have Hydravision installed/turned on? Make sure the secondary monitor is actually enabled in the ATI control panel (down under "Display Properties/Settings/Advanced...")

Then go to the display properties screen and click identify. Make sure one monitor is 1 and the other 2. Otherwise they'll just be clones of each other.

i checked in the control panel and both monitors are on but hydravision is just switching between the LCD and a modified desktop with on the LCD (no background)

When you click identify what number shows up on the monitors? One monitor will have a blank background until you change it or drag something over from your primary one.
If I can I'll hook up my crt and take a pic what it looks like when just hooked up.

OK after you go to display properties to enable the monitors. Click on the circle in the circle on the one you want to be primary. Then go to your display properties screen.
Click on the monitor number 2 then set the resolution and color for it and check the extend windows desktop onto this monitor. Drag the 1 and 2 around to match your actual
setting. Put 2 left of 1 if your monitors are setup that way. Then if you click on the monitor 2 you can setup it's setting like increasing it's refresh rate. Mine is set 60Hz for the LCD
and 85Hz for the crt.
