Trying to get a job before moving...

I'm looking to move to North Carolina (Raleigh/Durham area) from NW Ohio. I've been applying for jobs for about 2 months or so now, with little success. The only responses I've heard have been "another candidate was chose", "local candidates only", and "we'll talk to you if you can start on Monday" (that was on a Thursday). Is it hopeless to try and get a job BEFORE I move? I'd really like to have something before I move... Does anyone know how big of a deal hiring companies make of people from way out of state like myself?

If you have a job right now and you're fine, I would wait till you find a job there.

Get one of those remailing addresses in the area local to where you want to be and use that on your resume.

Might also consider heading down on a recon trip and find out where you'd like to live and pick up a cell phone from a provider down there and use that # on your resume, too (so the area code matches up)
