I want to connect a puter to my big screen tv...it has a vga connector but only supports 640 x 480. Currently I have the puter hooked up to a Hyundai L90+.

In my display properties the lowest resolution is 800X600. I tried powerstrip but no go.

Using built in video with a biostar mb.

Any help appreciated on how to do this? Any other proggies that will force a res?

i think since windows xp came out, the default/lowest resolution was bumped up to 800x600 from 640x480. i would think that powerstrip could do it, but apparently not.

You can force it through the drivers. In ATI's case, find the full list of supported resolutions (640x480 ones should be at the top). With NVIDIA you should be able to make a custom resolution.

If you're trying to do this with some super-crappy IEG setup or an off-brand video card... get a real card made in the last five years and try again.

Might be able to force 640x480 by going through Display Properties -> Advanced -> Adapter -> List All Modes?

640X480?

Why not just use the S-video connection? If you have it of course.

I had this same problem. I could use 800 x 600, but it didn't look good on my older projection HDTV. I ended up adding a custom resolution to the driver (NVidia card). I don't know how you'd do it with the built-in video (assuming it a KM-266 chipiset, or something like that). Powerstrip is probably your only option. You can add a new resolution through it.

Recent drivers from both ATI and Nvidia will give you the option 640x480 in their advanced settings.

I've seen plenty of times where that is incorrect, what Type/Model TV is it?

Exactly what Boogak said. 640x480 isn't advertized on the front page anymore, but the "List All Modes" button still has it.
