Trying to fix broken MP3 player (need to format it)

Ok, long story short, tried to install Windows XP on my Sansa Clip+ to use as a bootable USB drive/install, I guess it doesn't work that way, so when it goes to loading database it locks up so I can't go to menu and delete everything.

Things I have done:
Tried to force the player into MSC mode.
Tried to update drivers from within Windows' built-in driver updater
Reset player (which I don't think would do anything anyway)
Tried to use Factory Firmware updater, but couldn't find drive.

I don't see the player except a yellow question mark in hardware under mass USB storage. Says "Connected" when just plugging into USB while its off, sometimes says "Writing".

It's 35 Dollars, but 35 Dollars I don't want to spend on another.

Anyone got any software or ways to detect it and reformat it?

Fixed it, got it into MTP mode somehow by manually selecting the drivers through device screen, and selecting MTP drivers. I then restarted and formatted it within Windows when it showed up as a music player.
