If you already have a quality HDMI cable you can go with this adapter but if not you might be better off going with this HDMI/DVI cable to cut back on connection points. (you can also get a 10 footer for a couple bucks more)

Oh, that it were true. It's a TN panel. Benq's FP241W replacement, the V2400W, is a TN as well. All TN all the time is their new slogan.

I believe the FP241WV & WZ are still in production & both still use AU Optronics P-MVA panels like my discontinued FP241W ... unfortunately both models cost significantly more then the T241W.

Like many LCD makers, BenQ is pumping out cheap TN's in all sizes now due to popular demand for quantity over quality.

 
I also (highly) recommend the 2253bw by Samsung. I got it last week when it was released, and it's absolutely wonderful. It displays REAL colors, and it's response rate is quick as hell. The contrast ratio is stunning, and the little issues that LCDs have are quite minimal with this monitor. I paid $320 + tax, and it was worth every cent.

The only two things that I could think of that you may not appreciate are:
* No HDMI
* Stand is cheap <-- they put all their quality and expertise into the monitor (I like that, actually, who cares about the stand as long as it can tilt?)
 
The Samsung is nice but has no component input, which would lead me to get that VGA box.

I'm still leaning towards the Westinghouse, but the power failure cases are making me feel a little iffy.
 
When s44 talks about correctly displaying 16:9 from my consoles, he means that the Westinghouse won't do that..right? I mean, I don't mind if black bars show up or anything..but can you specify?

EDIT: I dunno, those power failures on Westinghouse are turning me off now >_< I hate how my mind is constantly changing about these...Are there any BenQ's with a P-MVA panel? Is it even a big deal what panel it is if I'm not even a videophile? Honestly, 8ms is perfectly fine for me. You guys have a variety of different tastes and look for much more in your monitors than I would. I just want it to work and I want it to be compatible with a PC and my consoles. And I want it to look nice. That's about it. Any other suggestions?

Westinghouse would've been great if the power failure, short warranty, and the complaints about customer support weren't so glaring. The other companies have much better warranties.

Honestly, is TN versus P-MVA that big of a deal for me?

Actually, I think the Westy *will* do it, being a 24" made-for-TV monitor and all... Just run the monitor at 1:1, and the consoles at 1080.

A smaller-than-19*12 monitor needs actual scaling to deal with that, and most don't have the circuitry.
 
Alright, but you missed my concern with the Westinghouse -- according to some of the reviews the customer service is awful when it comes to dead pixels and the monitor experienced power failure with a large number of people. That's my concern right now.
 
I'm sorry for "bumping" this thread, I just need an answer on the Westinghouse's reliability. I mean, if it's bound to fail, it's crap 😛 and at that point I'd just get the Gateway monitor, even if it doesn't have the greatest panel in the world.

G2400W versus T241W:
Any differences? I don't see anything major to justify the extra cost of the second model.

Captante, you mentioned a zero dead/stuck pixel policy from BenQ, is that standard on all their products? If I get one with problems I just RMA it to them and they fix/replace? But I probably pay shipping, right?

What are your thoughts on the G2400W overall?

I am also looking at the Westy, newegg has it for $360 FS after MIR. Tasty price but I'm not sure if it would work for me for gaming, I currently use a Samsung 204B (5ms) and really really don't want to see ghosting while playing (FPS and MMORPG mainly) or watching movies.
