I've got an ASUS A7V133 and have heard that the mobo temps vary from the real temps. Anybody know how much they vary? Is it hotter than it reads or lower? Thanks!

define "real".

In terms of real socket-air temps, where the a7v133 thermsitor is, they are higher.

Compared to what the die temp probably is, it is probably closer on target than the vast majority of other mb's.

So are you saying the CPU temp is really higher than the temp display in BIOS tells you?

Depends... Sometimes, yes. But the degree varies. Because asus adjusts their "readings" higher htan other MB's, it tends to be closer to probably cpu die temp. Other mb's that read lower tend to read well under what cpu die temp probably is.

This is the case with any external temp measurement. They are almost always lower "readings" than what core/die temp are.

On an ASUS CUSL-2 (sorry, not an AMD chip) but probably the same principle, in ASUS Probe, my CPU temps average 8 Celsius degree lower than the temps reported in BIOS.

Marine,

That's due to the Cusl2 bios "being in a different load" state than it is in windows.

Yes, but without an OS running in the background, I would have expected the BIOS reported temp to be lower than in Windows running ASUS PC probe.

not necessarily... dpeends on when you're reading your windows temp. I've found that the asus bios is somewhere in the 60-65% load range. Not full load, and definately not idle either. If your OS has built in HLT commands, then the bios temp will be significantly warmer than the pc probe temp.
