Not really I would think, considering there was war raging across much of europe, parts of asia and northern africa at the time.
Your post shows how much you know of the US's mentality of isolationism at the time...Many Americans didn't give two shits about the war in Europe and wanted to stay out of it. They were only drawn into the war because of Pearl Harbor.
The battleships in Pearl were neatly arranged in pairs with no anti-torpedo netting around them...all of the fighters were lined up neatly on the airfields. The US Navy had no idea that the Japanese would even think about a surprise attack there.
