Stop following shit media....

I don't.

I got it in an e-mail from someone and I like to dig into the proof of this stuff before misinformation gets spread.

As it stands......as best I can tell, all of this ships were in Norfolk for a few months. 1 decomissioned, 1 not carrier worthy, etc. (as I read more) but nevertheless.......the whole all-eggs/1 basket rule smacks aloud here.

Those are simply the links google provided top-down.

Not seeing it populated heavily in Google so dunno what the real story behind this is. Noticing in comments that it's been since Christmas last year and some even going so far as to say it happens every Christmas.

Just doesn't sound wise to me, regardless of the comments, no?

The story leaves out a couple of facts.

The carriers are not in harbor for routine inspections.

CVN Enterprise is there waiting to be de-fueled. The carrier has been inactivated awaiting decommissioning later this year and you need somewhere to park it while you wait for the de-fueling of the reactors.

CVN 72 Abraham Lincoln is waiting for it's complex overhaul and refueling. About mid-way in a carriers life the carrier goes for a major overhaul and to have it's nuclear reactor's refueled which means cutting some fairly big holes in the deck. This refueling the navy has delayed because of the budget sequestor and could have impact down the road because it will delay the refueling of the Next Carrier inline to be refueled CNV 73 the USS George Washington. NewPort News Shipyard is the only ship-building facility in the US can than can do major work on carriers like maintenance on their nuclear reactors.

So realistically only 3 of the carriers are in harbor for what you would consider any type of routine activity. Also Norfolk is their home ports anyway. The other 2 are only their because NewPort News Shipyard is close by which will be doing the over-haul and de-fueling activities.

So who is going to attack them? Do you think the Russia's are going to fire a nuclear missile at them? Those crazzie Yankees we have been waiting to get 5 lined up to hit them at once!!!!

You take those trash blogs seriously? I'd really hate myself if I were as dumb as you.

Beforeitsnews has ads on the side for some box which they claim produces "free electricity." That should tell you a lot about the intelligence of its readers.

I'm pretty sure that Japan planned their attack based on knowledge that we lined our ships up in a row. Just a few days of this isn't going to trigger anything but its just plain stupid in practice.

Fact Check:

Joint occupation of Korea w/ the soviets never involved Korean officials, so for Korea, ww2 never ended but festered into the aspect of ww2 called the korean war, which is still on-going today. WW2: still on!

What country is going to directly and have the capability to attack? More importantly, are they batshit crazy enough and somehow assume that there wouldn't be swift and massive retaliation in doing so? Russia? Nope! Red China? Like Russia, a rational actor who knows at least one of its naval bases would be obliterated (along with at least some of its naval forces) North Korea to send a single missile exactly to those ships? Hardly... Thats not to say people should forget history. Obviously the US should always be vigilant.

:hmm:

It would make the most sense for a country to do this so that it could be invaded and then rebuilt

:hmm:

If I was Greece I'd seriously consider it

I guess some country could use their long range bombers, carrier based air craft, ICBMs, or submarines to attack those carriers. BTW, what countries own these type of weapons that can reach the Atlantic?

While there's a saying that goes, "anything is possible", back in the real world the only one that actually applies is "no way in hell".

If you're gonna worry over something at least make it an issue that's slightly relevant and worthwile.

You do realize that the Naval defense capabilities in the tidewater area would be able to ward off any attack other than a nuclear attack. In the event of a nuclear attack, it's a end of the world scenario so it really doesn't matter.

Wasn't that the attitude of the Navy back in Dec 1941 also? complacency can be a bitch sometimes....

I agree that there is probably no way in hell anyone would attack though

Not really I would think, considering there was war raging across much of europe, parts of asia and northern africa at the time.

Today is peacetime, in case you haven't noticed. ;) (Well, apart from the US' imperialist aggression still going in afghanistan, but that's not exactly comparable.)
