Trying to do System Recovery on HP

I own an Hp Pavilion 8560 and am trying to do a system recovery. I run the application recovery cd and click on the "restore entire system" tab. I am then prompted to insert system recovery cd and restart the computer. Once I do all of that nothing happens and windows restarts normally as if ignoring the cd. The system recovery cd won't even autorun. What do I need to do to reformat my computer?

do you know how to get into the bios on your HP?

sounds like it might be set NOT to boot off cd's....which is your problem

you can simply move the cd-rom first in the boot order in the bios and then boot off the recovery cd that way

my g/f has an HP and asked me to do the system recovery, i had to set the CD-ROM as the first boot device, BUT the recovery consisted of 3 discs, and disc 1 and 2 went fine, but it refused to read the 3rd disc, HP tech support was confused............... good luck

How do i get into BIOS?

When the machine posts, on the bottom of the screen it will tell you what key to press to get into the BIOS. Normally it's F1, DEL, or F10.
