I have a Home-network with internet access being servered from my Win2k Computer. The problem is, my roomates won't stop playing Counter-Strike on it. Is there a program I can run from one of the other computers on the network that I can kill their ping with??

thanks

P.S. they can't realize what's happening and I can't do anything to the win2k computer right now

P.P.S. they are playing over the internet. Their computers can't run Counter-Strike

You could packet dump on ports 27015-27020. Or you could use PortMapper and just block them altogether. Or you could use ZoneAlarm and deny outisde access to hl.exe

From what I understand, Half-Life is on your coumputer right? If they are running it from your computer can't you just remove the permissions to that specific directory or even disable file sharing for those users. Also you could disable that particular network connection.

well I'm on my laptop right now, and I forgot to mention I would like to be able to ruin their game with out them know why its not working...

Right now I am downloading from 3 different sites @ 40K/s and copying over like 3 Gigs of MP3s and its still not spiking their ping enough!

Just unplug the power cord of their computers..
Or rename the exe to hlold.exe, and update your links.

Give us some more info also. Who pays what % of the rent? Who pays for internet access? Did you all agree to use your computer as the server?

If you were my roomate I would lock you in the closet and steal all the bandwidth for my games.

The easiest thing to do is just change the admin password and do a ctrl-alt delete and lock the workstation. Also reduce thier permissions on the computer in case the get smart enough to reboot the thing.

ahh finally back on my computer, they were still playing when I went to bed at 2am last night.

I pay for the internet access (its only $20/mo, so thats no big deal), and I agreed to use my computer as the server cuz they have crappy ones. We pay the same rent. I don't care if they are entitled to use my computer or not! I just want them off of it, and I'm too nice a guy to kick them off all the time (even if they are in the wrong).

I'm gonna try blocking some ports later today. Will that disrupt my web browsing? or just CS?
