Trying to disable all overclocking but my CPU remains overclocked? (2500k)

Hey guys I am trying to troubleshoot my system

One of the steps I am taking is to disable all overclocks, however, even after resetting my UEFI to full default, my 2500k is still running at 4.2ghz? It shold be at 3.3ghz without overclocking. I don't use any other software to overclock so this is pretty strange right? Any insight to what might cause it?

Make sure you're not using XMP memory settings too..

A weird thing I am noticing it seems my computer has my RAM set at 11-11-11-28-1N but the specs on the website for it say it should be 9-9-9-24-2N

Is this something that could potentially be causing my BSOD's?

there is an overclocking switch on my motheboard, is there on yours?

If you really want stock and still can't get it, just use the reset to defaults option in the BIOS. The 2500k was a very good overclocker, so even the settings you have (500 MHz) shouldn't be causing any issues.

I did reset to defaults in BIOS, yet my CPU remains at 4.2ghz

It's not my CPU I think that is having problems but rather something else, I'm just wanting to disable overclocks to do some troubleshooting

Have you tried clearing CMOS/taking mobo battery out instead of resetting to defaults through the BIOS?

Maybe that way the overclock gets completely cleared.

That sounds like the logical next step, and less troublesome if he writes down his profiles and settings in BIOS or uses the print feature (if there is one) to record those settings as graphic files on a USB stick.

I thought that happened to me maybe once -- long ago. Clearing CMOS may have fixed it. I just can't remember if I also replaced the BIOS PLCC chip preflashed to a newer version.

But basically, one would be doing the same thing with a new BIOS version on the new chip.
