first off
Is a 1.2Ghz P3-m worth $225 to upgrade from a 1Ghz P3-m (or $140 to upgrade to a 1.13Ghz P3-m) Other than spped, is there any refinement between these processors that would make the more expensive 1.2 (or 1.13) CPU run cooler or comsume less power? Or is it the same basic arcitechure with a 200Mhz speed increase.

Also, How would a celeron 1.06-m compare to a P3 1Ghz? same criteria

Another question. They are offering an nVIDIA GeForce2 Go Video Card in 16MB, 32MB, and 64MB varieties. For running powerpoint presentations and such, is it worth it to upgrade to the 32MB or 64MB? Also, would a 16MB ATI Mobility? Radeon Video Card be woth a crap relative to the nvidia option?

Other than that, anyone know of a sweet deal on a midrange Dell laptop?

Thanks!!

Well, I would say that the 1.2GHz would be able to handle your Office apps a lot better. As for the vid card memory, the more you have the better it gets. :D

When you compare a Celeron, and a PIII at the same speed, your not looking at comparable performance. The celeron wouldn't handle anything near as good as the PIII.

Very little difference.

If you are a gamer only the Geforce4 and Radeon 7500 are worth considering (especially if you are getting the higher resolution TFT).

If you just want decent gaming even the 16MB DDR ATI Mobility Radeons are fine for 1024x768.

I have a 866Mhz Inspiron 4100 with the above Radeon and it plays ALL the current games including RtCW, Max Payne and Serious Sam SE (I have a choice of 1024x768 with details at "mid" - OR - 800x600 with details at "high").

My system scores about 1800 on 3DMark2001 . . . the GeForce2Go scores about 2100-2500 on a similar system (and the Radeon 7500 around 3500).

The SpeedStep Pentiums have a larger cache, faster FSB and better battery life than the (slower) Celerons.
